Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has broken ground on its second tire plant in China, a radial truck and bus tire manufacturing facility.
The plant will be located in Suzhou and will be Yokohama's first radial truck and bus plant in China.
"At present, we rely on the imports from Japan for (truck and bus) steel radial tires for sale in China," says Yokohama President Tadanobu Nagumo.
"However, once operation starts at the new plant, our supply capacity will significantly expand. We want to further increase production capacity in response to sales growth in the future."
The plant is slated to start making tires in October 2007.
