Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and the United Steelworkers have agreed to extend their current labor contract beyond its expiration date of July 22.
"Under the terms of the day-to-day extension agreement, either party can terminate the extension by providing a 72-hour notice," say Goodyear officials.
Talks between Goodyear and the Steelworkers will continue. Their current contract dates back to 2003.
Late last month, the union selected Michelin North America Inc. as the target for current master contract bargaining.
