DaimlerChrysler AG has specified Dunlop performance tires for three 2007 Mercedes-Benz luxury automobiles.
Dunlop SP Sport 5000M in size 265/60R18 and optional SP Sport Maxx 275/55R19 ultra-performance tires are specially designed for the Mercedes-Benz GL450, the car model’s first sport-utility vehicle, reports the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
Nineteen-inch versions of the Dunlop SP Sport 01 high-performance all-season tire are specified on the Mercedes-Benz S-class Sport upgrade. The tires, specially engineered for the S550 and S600 sedans, come in 255/40R19 (front) and 275/40R19 (rear) sizes.
The tires also are optional on several S-class models, including the S320 CDI and S350.
Silvana Valencic, segment marketing manager for Dunlop Tires in North America, said, "These tires are specially tuned for the demanding standards of Mercedes."
High-end original-equipment fitments also are key to the brand’s replacement tire business. Valencic said luxury brands traditionally score highest in customer satisfaction, translating into higher loyalty rates and more business for Dunlop replacement customers.
"It also helps that our best tire models are specified on new luxury performance cars. Popular tires –- like the SP Sport 5000, SP Sport 01 and award-winning SP Sport Maxx –- are more likely to be requested by satisfied motorists when they are ready for replacement tires," she said.
