Officials from Massillon, Ohio-based Standards Testing Laboratories (STL) recently traveled to China to share information about American tire industry standards with Chinese tiremakers.
Cheryl Schnuth, vice president of marketing and sales for STL, discussed U.S. regulatory agencies, current regulations, revisions to existing tire standards, tire pressure monitoring systems and tire testing machinery.
"China has many regulations in place, both mandatory and recommended, that are similar to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards," she says.
"STL is taking a leading role in educating and assisting the Chinese manufacturers in conforming to these exacting guidelines."
More than 100 tire manufacturer representatives attended the event.
