The Independent Tire Dealers Group LLC (ITDG) has formed a committee to investigate the feasibility of opening its own warehouses, ITDG CEO and President Mike Cox told moderntiredealer.com at the group's annual meeting this past weekend in Monterey, Calif.
"We're in the exploratory stages," says Cox, who reports ITDG is looking at opening two distribution centers, one in Northern California and one in the southern part of the state.
"We'll do several (test) scenarios with different sizes and configurations. We're growing and we think we're missing some great opportunities (in not) having our own warehousing."
The ITDG has more than 100 members representing 300-plus locations.
