March 21, 2008

Atlantic Tire & Service recently received the 2007 Small Business of the Year Award from the Morrisville (N.C.) Chamber of Commerce at its 17th annual meeting.

The award is given annually to a chamber member based on the following criteria: financial performance and business history, customer service, community involvement, and business strategies and goals.

"We chose Atlantic Tire & Service because of its commitment to customer service and dedication to the community," says Sharon Rosche, president of the Morrisville Chamber. "It was apparent that they practiced what they preached because of their business growth."

Atlantic Tire operates outlets in Cary and Durham, N.C.

The company has been the recipient of several other awards, including the industry's prestigious Blue Seal of Excellence Award, the Cary Chamber of Commerce's Community Service Award and Employer of the Year Award. Owner Anthony Blackman received the Cary Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award in 2006.

"We are honored to receive this award," says Blackman. "But it's extra special to know we stood out from the crowd because of our commitment to customer service and dedication to the community. We wouldn't be anywhere without our loyal customers and great staff."

The company sponsors and supports almost 20 local community projects and school fundraisers a year. It also encourages its employees to join local civic organizations like the Rotary Club and Jaycees; to participate in philanthropy projects like the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program; and to volunteer at local schools.
