Pep Boys announces 1Q conference call

Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack will post its 2006 first-quarter financial results on Friday, May 12.

That same day, the company also will hold a conference call at 8:30 a.m. EST for analysts and investors. Participating in the call will be Pep Boys CEO Larry Stevenson, President and CFO Harry Yanowitz, and Chief Accounting Officier and Treasurer Bernie McElroy.

Pep Boys achieved sales of $549.8 million during the fourth quarter of 2005, a .7% drop compared to 4Q 2004 sales. Its service revenue dropped 4.3% during that period, while its merchandise sales increased by .7%.

Net loss from continuing operations before cumulative effect of change in accounting principle increased from a net loss of $9.7 million to a net loss of $22.7 million.

The company's sales for the fiscal year of 2005 (which, for Pep Boys, ended Jan. 28, 2006) were $2.23 billion, 1.5% lower than fiscal 2004 levels.

Pep Boys' stock price closed at $14.64 on the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, May 9. That compares to a 52-week high and low of $16.55 and $11.75, respectively.
