Continental announces price increases

April 27, 2006

Continental Tire North America Inc. will raise prices up to 5% on all its Continental, General and private brand passenger and light truck tires effective July 1.

The prices will vary by marketing line and/or size, and will affect all replacement channels, says a Continental spokesperson.

Continental cites escalating raw material costs, especially natural rubber costs, as the reason for the increases.

The company last raised its consumer tire prices on Jan. 1.

Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC, Falken Tire Corp. and Pirelli Tire North America Inc. will will implement price increases on May 1. Federal Tire Corp. raised prices on its full line of tires on April 1.
