Yokohama debuts Parada Spec-X high performance tire

Yokohama Tire Corp. has introduced the Parada Spec-X high performance tire to address the vehicle customization trend of increasing wheel size to 20 inches and beyond, says Jim MacMaster, Yokohama executive vice president, Business Division.

The Parada Spec-X comes in 22 sizes to fit light trucks, SUVs and hot-selling sedans like the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, ranging from 20- to 24-inch diameter with overall widths up to 15 inches.

"The Parada Spec-X is rugged enough for the tough demands of the street and it makes a fashion statement," MacMaster says.

The tire's construction is reinforced with shoulder blocks that help ensure stability and even tread wear on the heaviest sedans, trucks and SUVs. Heat-reduction dimples help the tire wear evenly by relieving heat build-up while a rim protector sidewall helps prevent wheel damage.

The PARADA Spec-X directional tread pattern coupled with the constant rubber-to-road contact increases the tire's acceleration and braking capabilities while providing optimum grip in dry conditions and increasing hydroplaning resistance for wet weather driving, the company notes. A single circumferential groove adds to wet weather handling by improving water evacuation.

Variable pitch technology reduces tire noise and the chance for uneven wear, adds MacMaster.
