Continental Tire North America Inc.'s Mt. Vernon, Ill., plant has been given the Rubber Manufacturers Association's Safety Improvement Award.
"The award is part of RMA’s Safety and Health Improvement Program," say Continental officials, "and is presented to companies that reduce their accident incidence rate by more than 10% from the previous year and achieve the same or better than the (association's) average."
"Our number one priority is safety, and we are honored to be recognized for our hard work and dedication to improving safety at the Mt. Vernon facility," said Hank Eisenga, manager of the Mt. Vernon facility.
"This award highlights the commitment of Mt. Vernon employees to making our environment safer."
The Mt. Vernon facility received the award after reducing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Incidence rate at the plant from 7.8 in 2004 to 3.0 in 2005, according to Continental officials.
