March 15, 2006

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has named Margaret Sheng vice president of its China operations. She will be based in Shanghai, China.

Sheng will manage business development in China and directly manage information technology, manufacturing operations, supply chain management, and sales and marketing efforts there.

Cooper Tire has various business entities in China.

A joint venture plant is under construction in Kunshan, with anticipated production to begin in the third quarter 2006.

Earlier this year, Cooper purchased majority interest in China’s third-largest Chinese-owned tire manufacturer.

Most recently the regional executive director for Lear Corporation in central and southern China, Sheng also has worked as director, general manager and operations manager for automotive manufacturers in China, Spain, the Philippines and United States.

"Sheng’s experience will assist Cooper’s aggressive plans in its China operations," say Cooper officials.
