Yokohama shuffles positions at Tokyo HQ

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has made a number of executive appointments at its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. All are effective April 1.

Takashi Yamashita has been promoted to director and senior managing corporate officer, president of Yokohama's Tire Group. He retains his post as Yokohama's general manager of its original equipment tire sales unit. He had been director and managing corporate officer in charge of tire technology and tire production.

Director and Senior Managing Corporate Officer Takashi Sugimoto, formerly president of Yokohama's Tire Group, has been placed in charge of business development for the markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China. He also was named to an additional post of chairman of Yokohama Rubber (China) Co. Ltd.

Akihisa Takayama has been promoted to managing corporate officer and general manager of the tire production, expanding from his previous position as general manager, tire production technology.

Director and Senior Managing Corporate Officer Keigo Ueda has been named to the additional posts of general manager of Yokohama's Hoses and Coupling Division and chairman of YH America Inc. Those companies manufacture and distribute hoses, couplings and sealants.

He also has been named chairman of SAS Rubber Co. and will continue his responsibilities as president of Yokohama's Sports Group and general manager of the company's Hiratsuka, Japan, factory.

Corporate Officers also have received additional assignments:

* Michio Yuge has been placed in charge of the Corporate General Affairs Department, the Corporate Purchasing Department and was named general manager of the Corporate Compliance Department.

* Yasuhiro Mizumoto has been named general manager of Yokohama's Shinshiro, Japan, plant.

* Tooru Kobayashi has been named general manager of the Tire Planning Division, chairman of Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc., and has been placed in charge of the company's OTR & Aircraft Tire Division.

* Hideo Fujiwara, general manager of the Corporate Finance & Accounting Department, has been placed in charge of the Yokohama's corporate personnel.
