Continental clarifies Delphi situation

March 6, 2006

Contrary to reports published elsewhere, Continental AG is not in active talks with Delphi to acquire any of its assets, a Continental spokesman told moderntiredealer.com earlier today.

While Contintental has expressed interest in buying parts of the struggling auto parts supplier, "first of all, Delphi has to (decide) if it wants to sell something," says Continental spokesman Hannes Boekhoff.

"We have to wait for Delphi to decide if and when they are going to sell parts of their business... and only if these parts fit into our business."

Also contrary to previous reports, "we did not specify (Delphi's) European operations" as acquisition targets.
