Twin City Tire opens state-of-the-art store

Feb. 23, 2006

Twin City Tire & Auto, Truck & RV Service has opened a state-of-the-art store in Eden Prairie, Minn.

CEO and President Jim Miller calls it his "dream" store.

The dealership features nine drive-through service bays for passenger and light truck tires, plus a 67-foot motor home and truck drive-through with 14-foot by 14-foot overhead doors. Inside the bays, the ceilings are 23-feet high to accommodate lifting motor homes and trucks with column lifts. A new laser alignment rack is designed for the four-door, extra-long pickups and motorhomes.

Each sales advisor and service technician has his own nine-door remote control to easily go in and out for road tests and evaluations.

The spacious showroom features a living room setting with a leather couch, love seat, chair, coffee table, end table, area rug and a 50-inch plasma HD TV. Sustenance is provided by a popcorn machine, Caribou Coffee with flavors, a bowl of ice with bottled water and juices, a bowl of fresh fruit and a bakery area with Krispy Kreme donuts.

"It was suggested that we install a tread mill for those who want to exercise and watch TV while they wait!" jokes Miller.

The store also is equipped with wireless, hi-speed Internet for customers and technicians to go on line.

Not only that, but the 10,800-square-foot, free-standing store is located at freeway 494 and 5, "considered the second best retail site in Minnesota," according to Miller, a 38-year industry veteran.

"Operationally, I have developed the 'Circle of Service' to create function and speed. The service advisors and service technicians are key in making this system work.

"The advisors can see the entire shop, showroom and waiting area in a glance. It is a literal 'great room' effect that allows everyone to see everything that's going on in the building."

Above the showroom are offices and an area for training and conferences.
