MTD Facts Issue: Michelin finishes first with $17.6 billion in tire sales

Groupe Michelin finished with higher worldwide tire sales than either Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. or Bridgestone Corp. in 2005, according to Modern Tire Dealer's 2006 Facts Issue. Based on yearly average exchange rates, Michelin finished number one with $17.6 billion in sales.

Goodyear and Bridgestone each finished with an estimated $17.3 billion in sales.

However, Goodyear and Bridgestone were one-two in tire sales in the combined United States/Canadian market. Goodyear finished with sales of $7.9 billion, while Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC finished with sales of $7.1 billion. Michelin was third with $6 billion in tire sales.
