Mitas recalls 1,752 motorcycle tires

Mitas a.s. is voluntarily recalling 1,752 tubeless E-07 motorcycle tires. Under extreme conditions the affected tires can suddenly lose air pressure.

The potential tires/sizes affected are:

1. 110/80-19 M/C 59T E-07 TL MI.

2. 100/90-19 M/C 57T E-07 TL MI.

3. 110/80-19 M/C 59T E-07 DAKAR TL MI.

Customers can determine whether their tire is subject to recall by checking the sidewall for the brand name (Mitas), tire name (E-07), inscription (tubeless) and DOT codes (from 0111 through to 4812). No other Mitas tires are affected.

The list of countries potentially affected by the recall are: the United States, Australia, Austria, , Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, UK, Ukraine, Venezuela, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The recalled tires were made in the Czech Republic. Mitas has notified the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, which is expected to submit the notice to the European Union-wide RAPEX system. Non-EU authorities "will be informed in due course," says Mitas.

All customers are advised to contact the point of purchase to discuss options for replacement. The improved E-07 tires will be made available at sales points in February 2013.
