Growth for a king: Royal Tire acquires St. Paul Tire

Dec. 19, 2012

Royal Tire, Inc., a St. Cloud, Minn.-based provider of tire and related services to commercial and retail customers, announced today it has acquired St. Paul Tire, a full-service commercial tire store in Newport, Minn.

The company says the purchase will enhance Royal Tire’s commercial service outreach and further support continued growth across the Upper Midwest. Over the past 64 years, Royal Tire has grown its commercial and retail locations steadily through acquisitions and new startups.

The purchase brings Royal Tire’s total store count to 24. Bud and Sue Hartl started St. Paul Tire 21 years ago and took great care of their customers and employees, says Royal.

“We will continue that tradition,” Royal Tire President Mick Pickens says. “The addition of St. Paul Tire along with the recent acquisitions of Tires Plus in Alexandria and Dependable Tire in Savage is a part of our long term growth strategy.”

Royal Tire officials say the company will be expanding more. “We are working on other acquisitions and expect more announcements in the near future.” Pickens says.

Royal Tire is number 44 on the Modern Tire Dealer list of the Top 100 Retreaders in the U.S.
