Long-time Continental and General truck tire dealer Bergey’s Tire & Auto Service Centers, headquartered in Souderton, Pa., is announcing the expansion of its product offering with a retreading solution from Continental Tire the Americas LLC’s Commercial Vehicle Tire Business Unit.

With operations beginning in June 2012, Bergey’s has adopted the ContiLifeCycle retreading process and is now offering ContiTread brand retreaded truck tires to customers from six commercial locations throughout eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Duane Bergey, vice president of Bergey’s tire division, said that the retreading facility in Sellersville, Pa. can produce up to 400 retreaded truck tires daily.

With more than 70 years affiliation with Continental, first through the General Tire brand, Bergey’s was excited about adding the ContiTread flat precure retreading line to their existing retreading business, Bergey said.

“The idea of offering a true lifecycle solution, from a truck tire’s cradle to grave, was very important to us. Because we are now able to sell the Continental truck tire from the new tire directly into a retread, we feel this has been a great complement to our business which will help us grow,” says Bergey.

“The performance of the retread has matched the new tire and the product has been running great. We’re very pleased with the ContiTread line.”

“The ContiLifeCycle is proving itself as an excellent complement to our premium new Continental truck tires, allowing our dealers to offer a complete lifecycle product that customers can depend on,” says Paul Williams, Continental’s executive vice president for truck tires, the Americas. “We are excited to have our historic partner, Bergey’s, on board with this process.”

Bergey’s also offers four retail locations in its 10-store footprint that provides passenger, light truck, medium truck, off-road, farm, earthmover, specialty and industrial tires. The Bergey’s retread facility will continue to produce additional brands of retreads along with the ContiLifeCycle products.
