NTB pricing strikes a nerve with fellow dealers

Order Reprints

Wow. Evidently, NTB's recent television ad has struck a nerve with tire dealers from around the country.

To recap, the national TV ad promotes two things at all National Tire & Battery (NTB) outlets:

1. all-inclusive pricing;

2. a $39.99 tire.

Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich wrote about the promotion in his latest blog, "NTB goes all in on all-inclusive pricing." Dealers have responded both for and against the ad, often with very pointed comments.

To read them, check out Ulrich's blog. Here is a sampling.

Against: "I would be very interested in knowing how the big boys sleep or if they would even talk to or recognize a customer outside of their business?"

For: "Be fair to NTB. The customer isn't expecting (a $39.99 tire) for his SUV-size tires. Anyone with ANY sense knows this is a low-end, small-size tire. Some people really need a $39.99 tire."

If you would like to weigh-in, read the blog, then leave a comment! The more, the merrier!
