Safe teen wins scholarship from Kumho, KeyBank

The Key to Safe Teen Driving Program, a summertime tour that teaches teen drivers behind-the-wheel lessons, has concluded the contest to offer  two new scholarships to local Ohio high school students for the 2012-2013 school year.

The scholarships are aimed to impress upon young drivers the importance of staying safe while in the driver’s seat. Representatives from Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. the Ohio State Highway Patrol, KeyBank, and The Mid-Ohio School selected two students to receive the valuable scholarships.

Paul Chao, a senior from Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio, won a scholarship for his video submission on the importance of safe driving. He was able to demonstrate the importance of avoiding various distractions many teen drivers encounter daily.

"Kumho is pleased to have teamed with the Mid-Ohio School and KeyBank to offer Paul Chao this scholarship for demonstrating his dedication to the importance of safe driving,” says Rick Brennan, vice president of marketing for Kumho Tire U.S.A.

“It is our hope that by bringing awareness to the importance of safe driving, we will be able to keep our teen drivers safe on the roads.”

The Key to Safe Teen Driving Program visited five states and 14 cities over 24 dates during the summer of 2012. Nearly 1,700 teens completed one-day classroom and behind-the wheel instruction.
