FBI wants you to be a tire scam breaker

Nov. 19, 2012

Remember the "very sophisticated" tire scam reported on earlier this year by www.moderntiredealer.com? A website has been created for victims of the Canstruct fraud to self report.

Click www.fbi.gov/stats-services to go directly to the website. Then click on the "Operation CANSCAM" link.

"There is an instructional page concerning the scheme and a link to self report," says Brian Jacob, an FBI agent based in Albany, N.Y. "We have also created a 1-800 number at 1-800-236-8947 (select option 2). This is a voice message providing information and updates on the scheme; it will not allow you to leave a voicemail."

The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) also has created a dedicated email address for victims to supply more information: [email protected].
