Sailun verifies its trailer tire the SmartWay

Nov. 14, 2012

Sailun Co. Ltd.'s S622 EFT radial medium truck tire has been SmartWay-verified for trailer axle positions.

Sailun now has a steer, drive and trailer tire that are SmartWay verified.

"The EFT [Environmentally Friendly Technology] program was created to develop tires that help reduce our environmental footprint," says Dirk Debruin, vice president of engineering.

"Receiving approval from EPA is validation of the work we’ve done and although this is a great achievement of our green initiatives, our work does not end here. We’ll continue to research and test new ways to reduce our carbon footprint, from the manufacturing process to the product itself.”

The United States Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Technology program was launched in 2004 to reduce transportation-related emissions.

SmartWay-verified low rolling resistant tires are tires that can reduce NOx emissions and fuel use by 3% or more (relative to the bestselling tires for line-haul trucks) when used on all five axles on Class 8 trucks.

The Sailun S622 EFT is a premium, free-rolling position trailer tire. It features a decoupling groove that resists irregular tread wear and wide ribs to prevent damage caused by high-scrub applications.
