Conti boosted its sales to European automakers in 2007

Continental AG sold 27 million tires to European auto manufacturers year, 8% more than during 2006.

The Hanover, Germany-based company says its European market share now stands at 30% at the original equipment level.

"We are making inroads in the OE market in the United States as well," says Nikolai Setzer, head of worldwide passenger tire original equipment activities at Continental.

Modern Tire Dealer estimates that the company's Continental brand has 12.6% share of the OE market in the United States and Canada. Its General brand makes up another 4.3%.
