Conti management changes in Canada, Brazil

Continental Tire the Americas LLC‘s (CTA) Oliver Winschiers, managing director of Continental Tire Canada, will take an international assignment at CTA’s manufacturing facility in Camaçari, Brazil.

In his new role as plant operations manager, Winschiers will be responsible for purchasing, logistics, production planning and warehousing for the 8.6 million square-foot facility.

Prior to his role as managing director of Continental Tire Canada, Winschiers was director of corporate purchasing for Continental’s Automotive and Rubber Groups in the Americas. He was also responsible for the direct material purchasing for Continental Tire in North America.

Meletis Xigakis will succeed Winschiers as managing director of Continental Tire Canada. Since 2002, Xigakis has worked in Continental AG’s Passenger and Light Truck Tire and Original Equipment Business Units in Hannover, Germany.

Most recently, Xigakis was responsible for the BMW and Porsche global original equipment accounts as well as the original equipment passenger and light truck business in South Africa.

The new assignments for both Winschiers and Xigakis will be effective Oct. 1, 2012.
