Honda and BMW Take Michelin Green X Challenge at Baltimore Grand Prix

A clean, fast, and efficient performance on the track, and the overall race victory, also delivered a  Michelin Green X Challenge win for Honda, Level 5 Motorsports and drivers Christophe Bouchut and Scott Tucker at the Baltimore Sports Car Challenge.

The victory in America’s premier environmental motorsports competition was the second for the Wisconsin-based Level 5 Motorsports team and the record 17th for Honda Performance Development.

“We are proud to have won the Michelin Green X Challenge award for the 17th time in the ALMS history, » said Marc Sours, General Manager, Honda Performance Development. “ Honda has always been an environmentally aware company.  The Michelin Green X Challenge award is based on being fast, clean and efficient, three qualities that everyone at HPD works to achieve every day,” said Sours.

Taking the Michelin Green X Challenge honors for the third time this season and seventh time in history was the BMW Team RLL, this time with the No. 55 BMW E92 M3 with co-drivers Bill Auberlen and Jorg Muller.

Racing on the real streets of downtown Baltimore is a great reminder of the relevance motorsports competition to accelerate the development of new technologies and energies. ”

Representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency attended the two-hour event on the 2.04 mile circuit through the streets of downtown Baltimore and assisted in the awards presentations.
