Team Falken scores second win with Savvy Off Road

July 30, 2012

Falken Tire continues to prove its strength in demanding racing conditions by taking its second win in the popular Ultra4 Every Man Challenge Stock Class partnered with Savvy Off Road and driver Gerald Lee.  The win, at the Glen Helen Motorsports Park in San Bernardino, CA, is the second for the Savvy/Currie/Falken Jeep LJ Unlimited, which captured the 2012 King of the Hammers inaugural Every Man Challenge event in Johnson Valley, CA this past February.

Lee earned the trophy besting a determined field of entrants.  Qualifying started the event at the 2012 4Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix with the Jeep suffering electrical issues, placing it 34d in the stock class and 7th overall.  The race itself was more of a sprint, lasting 1.5 hours, and Lee was able to place the stock class leader by lap three, taking the top positions and finishing second overall.  The Every Man Challenge was created as a partner event to the growing King of Hammers (KOH) race, allowing off-road enthusiasts a chance to race their stock and modified stock vehicles during the exclusive off-road race.

“Once again, Falken Tires were the key in helping us secure this win,” a jubilant Lee exclaimed at the finish.  “The durability and rubber compound definitely made this our tire of choice.  According to the rules, teams competing in either the Stock or Stock Modified classes must run stock, DOT-approved tires.  Savvy Off Road ran Falken WildPeak A/T Tires, sized 35x12.50 R15.

“We continue to enjoy a strong partnership with the folks at Savvy Off Road and Currie Enterprises, and this event increases our knowledge and experience in off-road racing,” said Nestor Cabrera, Team Falken’s Off-Road Supervisor.  “From our standpoint, the strength of the stock WildPeak A/T running in these tough conditions proves it’s capable of handling what regular drivers put the WildPeak through.  “We’ll continue to push its abilities through more off-road events.”

"Running off-the-shelf DOT Falken WildPeaks in these abusive conditions truly is a testament to our product's real world performance and durability,” added Nick Fousekis, Director of Motorsports Marketing and Events.  “As a company, we participate in a wide range of motorsport activities and while some have dedicated race development resources [American Le Mans], we take pride that the Savvy Off Road/Currie team has had such success with the same exact product found in retail tire locations across the country. We thank the Savvy/Currie team for their continued support.”
