New product: TireVigil TPMS for trailers

TireStamp Inc. has introduced the first trailer tire pressure monitoring system that meets the new TPMS 2.0 standard for commercial TPMS products. TireVigil TPMS Trailer automatically connects to TireVigil TPMS on the tractor.

The system is designed to alert fleet personnel to developing tire problems long before tires are ruined or vehicles are stranded on the side of the road, ticketed, or put out of service at roadside inspections. The system issues alerts for

* underinflation,

* overinflation,

* overheating, and

* differences in dual tire pressure.

In addition, reminders are issued to recheck wheel nut torque after a tire change and for "preventive maintenance inspections."

All alert and reminder thresholds are customized by the fleet so that they meet the fleet’s requirements and can be changed easily and quickly if desired with a click of a mouse.

TireVigil alerts and reports can be sent to anyone the fleet chooses, including its tire dealer or service provider who has an iPhone, Blackberry, Smartphone, tablet, or other Internet connected device.

"TireVigil TPMS Trailer eliminates the hassle of having to manually join the trailer TPMS to the TPMS on the tractor," according to the company. It wirelessly connects with TireVigil TPMS on the tractor without human intervention when the trailer is hooked so that trailer tires are recognized and monitored automatically.

“In addition to providing the last known location of the trailer on all alerts, TireVigil TPMS Trailer provides location-based tractor and trailer 'Hook-and-Unhook Weekly and Monthly Summary Reports' that enable fleet managers to see how long a trailer was hooked to a tractor, where it was dropped, and how long it has been dropped so that not only is its location known, but also whether any detention charges for trailer delays should be assessed without having to use another trailer tracking telematics solution,” says President Peggy Fisher.

TireVigil TPMS Trailer monitors an unlimited number of tires -- standard duals or wide base -- and accommodates a wide range of trailer configurations including dry vans, reefers, tankers, flat beds, livestock, auto carriers, dry bulk and dump trailers.

"All tractor and trailer tire data is sent to TireStamp’s cloud-based servers that analyze all tire and vehicle data so fleet managers can obtain visibility of the state of all the tires in their fleets, not just the tires on their tractors or on one vehicle at a time," says Fisher. "They can see how well tires are being maintained at various locations, and identify garages, outside tire service providers, and even specific technicians that are not responding quickly or properly to address tire problems.”
