July 12, 2012

Bridgestone Corp. is investing approximately $157.8 million to increase truck and bus tire capacity at its Stargard, Poland, tire plant.

Bridgestone Stargard Sp. z o.o., the subsidiary that runs the plant, says the planned expansion will increase the plant's production capacity by approximately 1,350 tires per day, bringing the plant's capacity to approximately 3,750 tires per day. The expansion is expected to be complete during the second half of 2014.

"The Bridgestone Group is continuously enhancing its production and supply systems in order to quickly respond to global market demand trends and provide customers with high-quality products in a timely manner," says the company.

Bridgestone Stargard is owned by Bridgestone Europe NV/SA (BSEU), itself a Bridgestone Corp. group subsidiary and the parent company's headquarters in Europe.

In the United States, the Bridgestone brand has 17% market share in the replacement medium/heavy truck tire market, according to the Modern Tire Dealer Facts Issue. It has the capacity to produce 14,200 truck tires per day at its two U.S. truck tire manufacturing facilities.
