K&M Tire Inc. recently purchased a warehouse in Lawrence, Kan., 35 miles from Kansas City, Kan. The wholesale tire distributor plans to have this location fully operational by Monday, Aug. 6, 2012.
Brian Christiansen will serve as warehouse manager of the 81,640-square-foot facility. Christiansen has seven years of management experience; that includes warehouse and tire experience.
Plans are to hire three full-time delivery drivers immediately and add to the staff as business dictates. The company is also in the process of hiring an outside sales representative for this location.
K&M will deliver passenger, light truck, commercial truck, farm and utility tires to tire retailers in Kansas and Missouri out of this location. This will be the company's 13th warehouse.
The regional tire distributor also has purchased property in Barnesville, Minn., with plans to build a 50,000-square-foot distribution center on the property. "The company will continue to look for growth opportunities throughout the Midwest," says K&M.
Founded in 1970, Delphos, Ohio-based K&M Tire operates 12 warehouses in 10 states servicing customers in more than 20 states from Ohio to Kansas. The company distributes 19 brands of passenger and light truck tires, seven brands of commercial truck tires, and eight brands of farm and utility tires.
