To Kumho, youth soccer will be served

April 16, 2012

Over the weekend, Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. was the presenting sponsor for ESPN Dallas’ fourth annual youth soccer tournament, the Copa ESPN 2012. More than 1,000 soccer players representing 72 teams were showcased during the three-day (April 13-15) event in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

(Due to inclement weather, Sunday's slate of games and activities were cancelled and needed to be rescheduled.)

To show its involvement, Kumho invited fans of all ages to interact with the company on site to meet players and the "Kumho Girls," receive giveaway items and more.

“Events such as this allow us to be a part of soccer and to support the burgeoning sport here in the U.S. on a grassroots level," says Rick Brennan, vice president of marketing. "The kids playing in the Copa ESPN could very well be the next big name soccer superstars in just a few years.”

The invitation-only event was held at the McInnish Soccer Complex in Carrollton, Texas. There will be six age categories (under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18).

Fans and spectators at the McInnish Soccer Complex were encouraged to stay in close contact with Kumho through Facebook (www.Facebook.com/KumhoTire) and Twitter (@KumhoTireUSA) for the chance to win valuable prizes at the event. Kumho Facebook followers in the Dallas area who were not at the Copa ESPN 2012 also had the opportunity to interact and participate in contests to win prizes.

Kumho is the official tire of the men’s and women’s U.S. National Soccer teams.
