Hankook Team HEICO Motorsport brings top drivers
to the Nürburgring

April 13, 2012

Premium tyre manufacturer Hankook and HEICO Motorsport kick off the 2012 long distance racing season with an outstanding team of drivers: Motorsport legend and five-time DTM Champion Bernd Schneider as well as Pierre Kaffer, Kenneth Heyer and Alexandros Margaritis will enter the VLN Endurance Racing Championship at the Nürburgring on 14th April in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, dressed in the well-known Hankook-colours black, white and orange.

The Hankook Team Heico Motorsport will enter the track for the first time under real racing conditions for the second round of the VLN Endurance Racing Championship Nürburgring (VLN). Expectations on the package of racing pros, car and tyres are high as all participants have impressively proven their skills on various race tracks in the past.

"The Nürburgring and especially the Nordschleife demand the most of both drivers and material. In 2012 we will enter the race with a top team of highly professional and skilled drivers." says Manfred Sandbichler, Director Motorsport Hankook Tire Europe. "We are excited to see this promising package of drivers, car and high-performance tyres on the track for the first time under real racing conditions after our very successful test drives. With the 24-hour race in view we will also use this opportunity to further optimise the set-up. This weekend we can certainly expect to see racing at its best. “

Depending on weather and track conditions, the Hankook Team HEICO Motorsport can rely on Hankook’s Ventus F200 slicks, Ventus Z207 rain tyres or custom-made intermediates in sizes 300/680 R 18 tyres at the front and 320/710 R18 on the rear axle in the unpredictable April weather. The team will also be able to choose between different tread compounds within each pattern type, especially designed for the requirements of the Nürburgring.

Hankook continuously expand their motorsport engagement in Europe in 2012. In addition to Hankook Team Heico Motorsport at the Nürburgring (VLN/24-h) as well as the DTM, the tyre manufacturer is also the exclusive tyre partner to popular Italian Superstars Series and Swedish TTA Racing League
– all of them racing on the successful Hankook Ventus Racing line of tyres.
