Michelin introduces next-generation regional truck tire at the TMC Show

Feb. 5, 2008

Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) introduced its next-generation XZE2 all-position regional tire at the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Show in Orlando, Fla., today.

Marc Laferriere, MATT's vice president of marketing, says the tire's improved tire life (15% greater) and durability will help regional fleets and operators reduce their total costs of operation over the long run.

Compared to the Michelin XZE, the XZE2 has a 6% wider tread area, and features an optimized tire profile incorporating Michelin's siping technology and four-groove design.

The tire's enhanced chip and cut resistant tread compound applies to all load ranges (it was available previously only in Load Range H sizes). The compound combines with the tire's 22/32nds-inch tread depth to help the XZE2 wear better in high-scrub applications. It also is more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

The XZE2 will be available beginning March 1, 2008, in three sizes: 11R22.5, 275/80R22.5 and 11R24.5. In April, a fourth size (275/80R24.5) will be added to the lineup.

Michelin says its XZE tire will remain available through the end of the year.
