Falken and Ford team-up. Catch my drifting?

April 6, 2012

Falken Tire Corp. is expanding its motorsports activities in 2012. As part of the celebration, the company is sponsoring a special sweepstakes with a 2013 Ford Mustang -- customized by Team Falken drift drivers Justin Pawlak and Vaughn Gittin Jr. -- as the grand prize.

The sweepstakes coincides with the start of the 2012 Formula Drift Champsionship, which begins at the Long Beach Grand Prix in Southern Calif. Round 1 of the series will take place April 6-7. (The 2013 Mustang redesign will make its debut at Long Beach.)

Team Falken won back-to-back Formula D Championships in 2010-2011. Both Gitten Jr. and Pawlak compete in Ford Mustangs.

“Falken Tire enjoys a great relationship with Ford Racing, having started with the manufacturer in 2007,” says Jonathan Bradford, Falken’s drift supervisor. “Both Justin and Vaughn collaborated to make this a very special Mustang. It features HRE wheels, Ford Racing Performance Parts and, naturally, Falken tires.”

“Ford’s involvement with Falken Tires in Formula Drift is critical in Ford’s commitment to show new audiences just how cool all our new products really are -- from Fiesta and Focus to Mustang, Fusion and F-150," adds Mickey Matus, Ford Racing’s marketing communication manager.

Sweepstakes entries can be made through Facebook with a “Like” on Falken Tire’s page at fordmustangsweeps and completion of the entry form, or by visiting Falken Tire’s website. The sweeps will run throughout the 2012 Formula Drift season, culminating with the “Title Fight,” Round 7, on Oct. 12-13.

The winner will be awarded the grand prize at the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
