Yokohama sponsored team seek Mint 400 victory

Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-road racer Cameron Steele and his Desert Assassins teammates are back with two 800-horsepower Trophy Trucks, seeking victory in the Mint 400, March 24, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Steele, alongside navigator and 11-time Baja 1000 champion Johnny Campbell, will pilot the number 16 Yokohama Trophy Truck. The truck will be mounted with 40-inch Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S R tires specially engineered for extreme off-road conditions.  The 92-mile course, often called “the toughest off-road race in North America,” is located in the unforgiving desert just outside of Las Vegas.

“I am honored to have Cameron ask me to step into the navigating seat for the injured Cody Stuart,” said Campbell. “The Mint 400 is a legendary race and I can’t wait to assist the team.”

Also competing in the Mint 400 will be Desert Assassins teammates Josh Daniel, driving the number 14 Yokohama Trophy Truck alongside navigator Allen Hickerson.

“The Geolandar A/T-S R tires were designed to handle a course just like the Mint 400,” said Andrew Briggs, Yokohama’s director of product planning and motorsports. “With these new tires on the trucks, Cameron and the entire Desert Assassins are set to bring home a victory.”

In the 7200 class, Rene Brugger and Patrick Dailey, still riding high on their 2011 SCORE Class 6 Championship, will be competing on off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+ tires.
