March 11, 2012

Mitas a.s. appointed Jean-Paul Spijker market director for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg on March 1, 2012.He will operate out of Uden, Netherlands.

He is responsible for increasing Mitas’ market share and improving customer service in his region. “I can open a lot of doors,” says Spijker, who is fluent in Dutch, English and German.

Spijker previously worked with Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd., Van den Ban Autobanden, Solideal International and the Alliance Tire Group in Europe.

“Mitas is moving closer to Benelux (an economic union comprised of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg) customers,” says Andrew Mabin, vice chairman of Mitas’ board. “Mitas is increasing tire availability and shortening delivery times for tire deliveries since the Uden office operates its own warehouse, which will now store the full range of Mitas and Continental-branded tires.”

In an effort to expand its sales network, Mitas acquired Tribatyre, an agricultural and industrial tire supplier, and established a sales office in Uden in January. Tribatyre and Mitas have been cooperating since 2002.

“It is the farmers, construction industry and original equipment manufacturers who benefit when Mitas establishes a local presence,” adds Mabin.
