Bauer Built plans to expand in the Midwest

Bauer Built Inc. recently created a new executive vice president position "to enhance (our) growth strategies," according to Tad Bauer, executive vice president and COO.

Jim Fenn, an executive at Bauer Built for more than 30 years and a 42-year tire industry veteran, was named executive vice president of business development on Jan. 1, 2012. In the new position, he will expand and grow Bauer Built's business across the Midwest.

His new responsibilities include seeking out and finding new business opportunities through acquisitions, new start-ups and joint ventures.

Fenn joined Bauer Built in April 1981, and has held various positions: store manager, market manager, vice president of sales, vice president of sales and manufacturing, executive vice president of sales and manufacturing and, most recently, executive vice president of marketing and logistics.

Based in Durand, Wis., Bauer Built has been in business for 68 years servicing the Midwest in the wholesale, commercial and retail distribution of new and retreaded tires, batteries and related products. As one of the largest tire dealers in the country, it is:

* tied for 39th on the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list with 29 commercial/retail tire centers;

* 14th on the "MTD Top 100 Retreaders in the U.S." list; Bauer Built retreads 940 truck tires a day at its seven Michelin Retread Technologies retread plants.

* 10th on the "Top 25 U.S. Commercial Tire Dealers" list.

Bauer Built also has nine wholesale distribution centers, and is in the bulk petroleum business.
