Winter wonderland with Pirelli and Audi

Feb. 12, 2012

Pirelli Tire North America Inc. has partnered with Audi AG and its Canadian subsidiary to take winter driving to Canada.

The 2012 edition of the Audi Driving Experience -- a high-adrenaline driving program dedicated to showcasing the best of both brands under the most extreme conditions -- will be held in two locations this winter:

* Feb. 12-19 at Esterel Suites, Spa & Lac in Montreal, Quebec;

* Feb. 28 through Mar. 4 at Nakoda on the Lake, Spa Lodge and Conference center in Calgary, Alberta.

Participants will have the opportunity to feel first-hand the grip of Pirelli Sottozero Serie II tires, original equipment fitment for the 2012 Audi S4. Audi-certified driving instructors will coach attendees on proper winter driving techniques on the frozen surface of a Canadian lake.

“This is the ideal environment for Pirelli to demonstrate our no compromise philosophy to performance in any and all driving conditions," says Mattia Bussachini, general manager of Audi Canada.

The Pirelli Sottozero Serie II uses dual tread compounds featuring new polymers and mixing processes that allow them to be ecologically friendlier and free of aromatic oils. A softer outboard compound enhances traction in cold winter conditions, while a firmer inboard compound increase high-speed stability and durability.

Pirelli’s Temperature Dynamic Compound technology optimizes the compounds for wet and icy surfaces to provide improved traction in winter’s near freezing and lower temperatures.
