TIA Offers Training for Retail Store Leaders

Sept. 16, 2020
The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is partnering with training company MOHR Retail to offer an online training class in October designed for retail tire store managers, assistant managers and leads.

“We are excited to present this course to TIA members and the industry,” says Brian Rigney, TIA president. “A key part of our mission is helping members become more successful through education and professionalism.”

TIA says the Retail Tire Store Leadership training program is designed to help tire store managers develop the interpersonal and leadership skills needed to retain, engage and enhance their teams’ productivity and deliver exceptional performance and customer service. The course combines technology-based micro-learning with interactive, real-life scenario-based modules to provide participants with a personalized, performance-based learning opportunity.

The four-week online class features two, two-hour sessions per week, one on Tuesdays and the other on Thursdays, starting Tuesday, Oct. 13 and ending on Thursday, Nov. 5. The coursework will cover four modules:

  • Foundations: Role of the Leader;
  • Setting Performance Expectations;
  • Improving Below-Standard Performance; and
  • Effective Floor Supervision – Coaching in Real-Time.

The cost is $750 per student. Class size is limited to 16 people, with a minimum of nine. Students who attend all eight sessions and do the pre-work will receive a completion certificate.

Glen Nicholson, a former automotive service technician, tire store manager, district manager and past senior director of retail training for TBC Corp., will teach the course. He served as TIA president in 2015-2016.

MOHR Retail has been offering retail training for more than 30 years, using both classroom and online learning methods as well as its own national retail research projects to stay on of top trends and fuel the success of retail outlets in all industries
