Nexen Provides Deep Dive Into New App

Oct. 14, 2020

Nexen Tire America Inc.’s new app is designed to connect tire buyers with Nexen dealers. And it contains features that make the tire selection and sales process easier for both parties, according to Nexen officials, who recently provided MTD with a deep dive into the app’s functionality.

The app gives consumers the ability to search Nexen’s complete consumer tire line by “swiping” vertically and horizontally or by using their smartphone cameras to scan vehicle identification numbers, says Megan Wentz, Nexen marketing manager.

Each Nexen tire has its own “detail page,” which includes data about tire features, benefits, sizes, specs, warranties and more.

In addition, each tire has an augmented reality feature that will “drop” a 3D image of the tire “anywhere,” say Nexen officials.

Using the feature, app users can “place" an image of the tire "on the counter, showroom floor or even by the customer’s vehicle.”

Using the app's dealer finder feature, users can contact dealers and request quotes and appointments.

These leads - which will include tire and/or customer vehicle information, customer contact information and an optional, requested appointment time - will transfer directly to dealers, who in turn, will have the ability to designate a lead point of contact within their business.

“Dealers will receive a push notification on their phones when a new lead comes in,” notes Wentz.

Dealers and store managers can designate points of contact at multiple locations. (“This should be an employee at the location who has the ability to follow up on leads daily,” say Nexen officials.)

Designated points of contact will be able to see all new leads that flow to their location. “We encourage our dealers to respond to customers within an hour,” says Wentz.

Points of contact also will be able to archive and reassign sales leads, if needed. Archived leads can be stored up to one year. They can be filtered by data and name. And they can be exported from the app into an Excel spreadsheet, according to Wentz.

“The new app has been set up for our Nexen Next Level dealers,” she says. Other dealers can download the app, but will need permission from the tiremaker to access its full suite of features.

Nexen has posted two training videos on YouTube: one for dealers and one for consumers.
