The UVeye system can inspect tread depth, inflation levels and other tire conditions. It also can read a tire's brand and nomenclature.

UVeye says its automated vehicle inspection systems - which can check tire pressure, tread depth, abrasions and other conditions - is gaining users.

A system will be installed at V.I.P. Auto Auctions' location near Atlanta, Ga., later this month, says the company.

UVeye's tire inspection technology is called "Artemis."

In addition to checking tire conditions, it also "can read and recognize a tire's brand, size/load speed ratings and DOT nomenclature within seconds," say UVeye officials.

Artemis - along with UVeye's "Helios" technology, which inspects underbody conditions - "will be key elements in establishing future standards related to uncertainty and transparency for vehicle inspections, not only at vehicle auctions, but also at dealerships, fleets and independent service garages," says Glenn Hemminger, managing director of UVeye's North American operations.

UVeye officials say inspections "take just seconds to complete."

"We expect this new, industry-leading inspection technology will have a major impact on customer satisfaction and result in a significant increase in sales and service over the next 12 months," says V.I.P Auto Actions founder Jim Smith.
