Nokian To Hire 150 More Workers for U.S. Plant

Jan. 25, 2021

Nokian Tyres Inc. plans to add 150 positions during the first half of 2021 at its tire manufacturing facility in Dayton, Tenn.

The hiring phase comes almost a year after Nokian began producing tires for the North American market in Tennessee. The company is adding workers for its mixing, tire production, maintenance and logistics areas, as well as those interested in performing tasks related to general factory overhead and quality control.

Most of the production positions require a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Those with manufacturing experience are preferred.

“Nokian Tyres is eager to welcome new employees to our team as part of our quest to be an employer of choice in Southeast Tennessee,” said Blake Markham, human resources operations manager at the Dayton factory. “This latest hiring phase will nearly double our workforce and allow us to significantly increase production of safe, sustainable tires at our high-tech factory.”

The growing workforce will enable the factory to expand from two production shifts to four.

Nokian plans to hire approximately 400 employees to produce tires and oversee operations at the Dayton factory by 2023. It eventually aims to make as many as four million tires per year at the facility.
