Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s use of soybean oil as a tire raw material component is growing. The company recently announced a new soybean oil procurement policy.

Goodyear says it is increasing the use of "sustainable materials in its products." Its use of soybean oil increased 73% last year versus 2019 levels, "making progress toward its long-term goal of full petroleum oil replacement in its products by 2040."

The first Goodyear tire to contain soybean oil was the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady passenger tire in 2017. Three additional Goodyear brand passenger tires also use the component.
