Nokian Expanding Capacity By Adding 4th Shift

March 30, 2021

Nokian Tyres plc will increase production capacity by about 30% at its Finnish factory by adding a fourth shift this summer.

The tiremaker plans to hire about 70 new workers for passenger tire production at the site in Nokia, Finland. Nokian expects to begin four production shifts by August 2021.

“Demand for tires in our main markets has grown during the end of last year and the beginning of year 2021," says Executive Vice President Manu Salmi. "We will continue developing the Finnish factory and increase capacity and staff for the production of passenger car tires. With these actions, we want to ensure the availability of our new successful products also in the future. I am very pleased that we are able to have these positive solutions that benefit both our employees and our customers."

The plant is currently operating with three shifts, five days a week. Once the additional workers are hired, the factory will operate with four shifts over six days a week.
