ASE Chairman Mark Polke Discusses Changes, Future

April 20, 2021

Mark Polke, chairman of the ASE board of directors, points out in a statement new initiatives ASE has undertaken, including the expansion of Spanish testing, military testing and the newly redesigned ASE.com website that has enhanced and simplified the registration and certification process.

He is also director of Bosch Workshop Concepts, North America for Robert Bosch LLC.

Here is his statement:

"After serving on the ASE board for the past several years in a variety of roles, it is my privilege to now serve as chairman of ASE. I am excited to work with our partners in the various segments of the transportation industry to promote the mission of ASE and the importance of ASE certification.

"During the past year, ASE-certified professionals demonstrated exactly why they are deemed essential as they provided indispensable services, ensuring that vital vehicles stayed on the road and performed their important roles. These skilled individuals are critical to keeping the motoring public going.

"Because they deserve our thanks, ASE will introduce Automotive Service Professionals Month in June as a way to recognize the valuable work service professionals perform each and every day. Their dedication has given us a renewed commitment to support their efforts with tools to help them continue and expand their professional credentials.

"Earlier this year, ASE launched a new website at ASE.com, providing a centralized online gateway for technicians, employers, students, instructors and consumers. The new mobile-ready website features a totally new look and structure for easier navigation and robust content for enhanced functionality and learning

"ASE.com is optimally organized to provide sought-after information, answers to frequently asked questions and helpful step-by-step instructions for all users. The site also features information about the expanded automobile test offerings with Spanish-language translations and about the popular ASE Renewal App that allows service professionals to renew their A1-A9 certifications from their mobile device.

"ASE recently introduced a series of tests for U.S. military personnel. Successful completion of the tests, plus an experience requirement, will not only result in ASE military technician credentials for qualified candidates, but will identify skilled personnel who may one day enter the civilian workforce.

"These new initiatives illustrate why ASE is known as the pre-eminent independent non-profit organization working to uphold and promote high standards of service and repair through the assessment, certification and credentialing of current and future industry professionals.

"On behalf of the ASE board of governors, we invite you to experience the new ASE.com and thank you for your support."
