Mitchell 1 Scores Exclusive Toyota Recall Information

Nov. 2, 2016

Toyota Motor Corp. has incorporated its Toyota Active Recall notification system into Mitchell 1’s management system, Manager SE. It's the only shop management system embedded with the automaker's recall alerts.

“It is exciting to work with a company such as Toyota that truly values getting information to their customers in a timely manner,” says Ben Johnson, director of product management. “We are pleased they chose Mitchell 1 as the first company to work with due to our expertise with shop management systems. The collaboration extends our vision to be the preferred provider of information and management systems to the automotive aftermarket.”

Owners of newer vehicles regularly receive notifications from Toyota. But it can be more difficult to reach owners of older vehicles that are out of warranty, or owners whose vehicles are not regularly serviced at Toyota dealerships. The new Toyota Active Recall feature helps ensure these owners who seek service from independent shops are notified of safety recall actions that haven't been performed on their vehicles.

When customers driving Toyota, Scion, or Lexus models with unperformed recalls arrive at an independent auto repair shop that uses Mitchell 1’s Manager SE shop management system, the service writer is automatically notified if there are unperformed recalls to be done on the vehicle. The service writer can then display and print the recall information so the vehicle owner can be advised and take appropriate action.

Vehicle owners benefit because they are notified of the recall work that may be needed to keep their vehicles operating safely. Auto repair shop owners benefit because they can add value to their customer relationships by advising of necessary work, even if they may not perform the recall service.
