Lee Fiedler, former president and CEO of The Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. and Tire Industry Hall of Fame member, has died at the age of 79.

During the early 1990s, he was named to the top positions at Kelly-Springfield and retired in 1999.

The following year, Fiedler was elected mayor of Cumberland, Md., where Kelly had been headquartered, and served that city for more than a decade.

In 2001, he was inducted into the Tire Industry Hall of Fame.

"The consummate entrepreneur and man of service to others, Lee always found time to serve on numerous boards in his community and church," according to his obituary.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Teresa; children Jim (Stacy) Fiedler, Joe (Rome) Fiedler, Leesa (Jeff) Blank, Kate (Mark) Williams and Annie (Aaron) Deemer; 14 grandchildren; three brothers; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services took place on July 2 and July 3.
