Bridgestone CMO Philip Dobbs to Retire

July 8, 2021

Philip Dobbs, the chief marketing officer for Bridgestone Americas Inc. for more than a decade, plans to retire in October. His successor has not yet been named.

Bridgestone credits Dobbs with playing an instrumental role "in elevating the company’s brand-building efforts in the U.S. and Canada, driving significant improvements in brand awareness, familiarity and purchase intent for both the Bridgestone and Firestone brands." The company says Dobbs lead the effort to globalize the company's brand portfolio "to ensure a consistent go-to-market strategy and messaging platform that connects with consumers around the world."

He led Bridgestone's "digital transformation" and in 2014 began work to establish platforms in both the consumer and business-to-business spaces.

He reshaped the company's sports marketing strategy and played key roles in Bridgestone's global Olympic and Paralympic partnerships, as well as Firestone's ongoing connection with the NTT IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500.

Paolo Ferrari, global chief business solutions officer for Bridgestone Corp. and president and CEO of Bridgestone Americas, said in working with Dobbs  "I have seen firsthand his passion for our brands, our teammates and the global Bridgestone organization. On behalf of Bridgestone, I congratulate Philip on his retirement and thank him for his vision, leadership and innumerable contributions to our company.”
