Michelin is Adding 41 Sizes to Michelin X-Ice Snow Tire

Aug. 23, 2021

Michelin North America Inc. is in the process of adding 41 sizes to its Michelin X-Ice Snow tire. With the new SKUs, the tire - which was launched in February 2020 - will be available in 166 sizes.

The X-Ice Snow features improved snow performance and braking versus its predecessor. It was developed and tested at Michelin's Nordic test facilities "under the most rigorous, constant, extreme-winter driving conditions," according to company officials.

The tire features:

  • A next-generation, V-shaped tread design that provides 100% use of the contact patch for optimal grip on snow and ice and "for improved slush performance;"
  • Michelin's Flex-Ice 2.0 tread compound, a unique rubber mix for use in a wide range of winter temperatures "with a full, silica-based compound to maintain flexibility in severe cold climate conditons;"
  • Michelin's EverGrip technology, which contains an "innovative tread compound with rigid polymer for improved grip on both snow and ice for the duration of the (tire's) wear life," and;
  • Two types of full-depth, interlocking 3D sipies "for an increased claw effect on snow and ice and for long-lasting bite edges."

The X-Ice Snow comes with T and H speed ratings for passenger cars, SUVs and CUVs that have rim diameters ranging from 14 inches to 22 inches. It replaces the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 and Michelin Latitude X-Ice Xi2.
