Tom Formanek Will Take Reins of TIA Board

Tom Formanek will be inducted as the next president of the Tire Industry Association (TIA) during its annual membership meeting on Oct. 31, 2016. He will serve a one-year term.

Formanek has spent the last 22 years with Stellar Industries where he has served as the manager of tire service products and currently is regional sales manager. He previously worked in sales and as a division manager for Collins, a divison of DMC, which was purchased by Stellar Industries in 1993. He graduated from North Iowa Community College in 1982.

His became involved with TIA in 1993 when he was first elected to its predecessor, the board of directors of the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA). As a director for NTDRA, he served on the executive committee and as supplier group chairman in 1997. Formanek continued his involvement as a member of the board of directors through the Tire Association of North America (TANA) years and into the current TIA. He's served as chairman of the events, training, finance, strategic planning, and nominating committees. He also served as TIA’s treasurer for six years before being elected secretary and advancing to his current spot as vice president.

With Formanek's assension to president, David Martin becomes vice president. Martin is director of sales for tire supplies and specialty rubber for American Tire Distributors Inc. John Evankovich moves up to TIA secretary. Evankovich is director of tire and battery centers for Sam’s Club. Mike Wolfe, from Southeastern Wholesale Tire, will remain TIA treasurer.

The annual membership meeting will be held from Noon to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Tropicana Las Vegas in the Montecristo 3 & 4 rooms). All TIA members are invited. There is no cost to attend.
