Black’s Tire Service Inc. is growing again through a partnership with Mason Tire & Auto Service, a retail tire dealership with four stores in South Carolina.
Joe Mason Sr. opened Mason Tire in 1984 in Surfside Beach, S.C., and over time expanded to four locations along the coast, serving Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Pawley’s Island and the original market in Surfside Beach. The stores are Goodyear-branded outlets, and Mason's family, including his daughter Kathy Mason, joined him in the family business.
Mason Tire is joining Black’s Tire Service, and Rick Benton, who leads the Black’s Tire wholesale operation, says the two businesses represent nearly 130 years of combined tires and customer service.
Benton says Black’s Tire Service is interested in continuing the culture and legacy the Masons have infused into their business.
“We’re keeping the family business alive and well,” he says.
The addition of Mason Tire gives Black’s Tire Service more than 900 team members and 54 locations. The company is No. 24 on the MTD 100.
